Sandra's Healing Journey 2020

Friends and Family:  Thanks for reading the long post--I find myself trying to keep this brief and there is just no quick way to communicate this.  

2020 seems to be the year of the "cosmic faceplant" for me!  A fainting spell, fall and nose fracture in my PCP's office followed by a 6-day hospitalization on IV antibiotics in early January 2020 was my body's way of letting me know that  I have an urgent medical issue that needs my attention!  I have recently been diagnosed with  low grade, indolent (slow growing) B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma which is locally advanced to my cheek and edging into my eye orbit and cavernous (brain) sinus.  Treatment is recommended as soon as possible to avoid creating symptoms, i.e., any impingement on my central nervous system and facial muscles, etc.  I have met with 2 oncologists (including a 2nd opinion at Mayo Clinic since they're not really sure exactly which indolent cancer I have and it is behaving somewhat weirdly).  The diagnosis (extranodal marginal zone lymphoma) and treatment plan remains consistent across the board:  Bendamustine (traditional chemo)/Rituximab (a "monoclonal antibody" drug that targets the cancer itself), 2 days out of the month, for 6 months.

A truly integrative approach appeals to me.  After diligent and exhaustive (literally and figuratively) research on both conventional and alternative therapies, I've come to the decision that I would like to delay chemo for at least a few months.  The COVID-19 scare has me concerned about compromising my immune system.  My oncologist is in honor of my decision to wait, and I understand the risks, which are minimal in the next few months.  We will do a repeat PET CT scan in a few months to get a baseline and see how/if my cancer is progressing.

I believe that the body has all it needs to heal my cancer.  I am delighted to have found a functional medicine clinic in Woodbury, MN that utilizes applied kinesiology, genetics testing, nutraceuticals and diet, as well as many other "latest and greatest" natural healing modalities, such as using thermography as a diagnostic tool, hyperthermia and oxygen therapies to support my healing protocol.  My aim, at least on the front end, is to diligently explore where the cancer came from and heal from that place--and the cause is likely due to various autoimmune, bacterial/viral/fungal/parasitic, environmental, emotional, spiritual and psychological factors that are feeding the imbalance.  This clinic will help me to address all of these factors.

I've researched a few international options as well, that are similar but prohibitively expensive (and involve travel, at this very precarious time).  I believe alternative healing modalities should not only be available to the wealthy.  Will you consider helping me?  I am paying on hospital bills as it is, as I have a large deductible health insurance plan.
