He's 14 years old, he's the eldest of three, he's on the basketball team, and he loves video games. Who would have ever thought that gun violence would suddenly change his life and that of his family? On a quick weekend trip to Laval, QC, Canada, for the occasion of a family member's birthday party, gun violence ended a dream of a day into a horrific nightmare. Sandrick was in the back seat of a car driven by his uncle and accompanied by his mom and two others. While leaving the party, a car pulled up beside their vehicle and opened fire. His uncle did not survive. All passengers in the car were injured. Sandrick received a bullet to the abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He suffers from severe injuries, and recovery seems as though it will be a long process.
He is currently admitted to a hospital in Canada. He needs to return home to continue receiving care which means he will need to be airlifted. His parents have not left his bedside, and the outpouring of love has been amazing. We are collecting funds to cover all medical expenses not being covered by insurance. Airlifting alone will cost $30,000, not to mention any additional medical expenses. Sandrick is full of love and knows he is loved. We thank you all for the prayers, the calls, the texts, and the support you've given us at this time.
