Hey everyone,

My names Daniel and I am writing to you guys on behalf of my mother and father who have recently lost their home and majority of their belongings in the recent FNQ floods.

Why I'm fundraising

On the 17th of December 2023 my parents were woken at the early hours of the morning by a neighbour to inform them that their house was being flooded. This was a terrifying experience and they had tried everything in their power to try to save as many belongings as possible before the water got too high.

These 2 have given so much to us, housing us during the current rental crisis and given their all to help others in need. Now is the time they unfortunately are needing help themselves.

The flood waters continued to rise later in the day before we realised it was not safe to stay. Walking out of the house with their animals in waist deep waters. They had no choice but to watch all their belongings and their home of 23years, the home they have done so much work on, raised their kids, housed multiple family members and watched their grandkids enjoy over the years go under.

Both my parents are super hard working and run their own businesses, both copping loss of all their equipment. My mothers sewing room was the first to go under.

My fathers shed has been inundated with water and destroyed so many of his hard earned tools, materials and machines.

The water has damaged their home to an extent of being unliveable and we are still unsure about the integrity of the foundations of the house. I would love nothing more than to help them out this Christmas and be able to repay them for all the kindness, love and care they have given to me and to so many others.

I realise this is a trying time for a lot of people at the moment and Christmas is a few days away but anything would help at the moment even just a share if you are not in a position to donate yourself.

The impact of your support

We are just hoping the money will help them relieve the stresses of rebuilding their home, businesses and still paying bills along the way.
