Sandy Moore needs your help

Sandy has gotten some really hard news. A few months ago she was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Basically what this means is she has scarring on her lungs. It’s not caused by smoking or anything within her control, and it’s going to get worse. The doctors told her she has between 2-7 years to live without a transplant.

We are hopeful about the transplant, but she’s not on the list yet. She can’t get on the transplant list until she drops 100lbs. As most of us know it’s hard to lose weight even if you’re able to exercise, but with the breathing issues she’s going to have to do it mostly through diet. Because she’s dependent on oxygen she’s not even sure if she’ll ever get back to work. This is hard for all of us, because she really loved her job in the bakery and was working more and finally getting ahead in life.

We are all pulling for her and hopefully she will get a transplant and live a good long life. Conversely though, if this disease progresses quickly we want her to enjoy her time here with us. Sandy loves camping, and she told us the day she got out of the hospital she wanted to get a camper and travel the country. Unfortunately her pop up camper broke this year and we all thought she’d have plenty of time to save and replace it. Life throws you some curveballs doesn’t it!

 

 

So here we are, asking you all for help. Just this past week she came down with COVID-19. So far she seems to be getting through it and hopefully won’t have any lasting effects. Because of this pandemic she’s not even able to get on disability because of the backlog and the social security offices being limited at this time. So for right now we are asking for whatever you can give to help her, just to pay her bills and get by. Her situation will get dire soon without any help as she’s already behind on bills. Long term we are trying to get her a camper and a truck so she can live out her dreams.
