Santa Dave McCawley's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Since 2020 Santa Dave has gone through multiple surgeries and procedures. In September 2022 he was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that has metastasized in the liver, lungs, and bones. After nearly a year of mostly successful chemotherapy and rapid diet adjustments, doctors have said his cancer markers are once again rising. Santa Dave is now in need of a biopsy (not-covered by most insurances) to help diagnose the cause of the rising markers.
You may be asking why we're referring to him as Santa Dave. That is because he's been a professional Santa Clause for the past 10 years, mostly in Flagstaff, Arizona as well as a couple of years for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He brings so much joy, wonder, and magic to not only his family but thousands of children and has missed getting to spread that joy for the past few years.
A few key points in his health journey are listed below.
In November 2020 Dave started what would soon become frequent hospital visits. This was the start of doctors trying to pinpoint the cause of ongoing pain.
February 2021- Had parathyroid surgery
June 2021- A mass was taken off his kidney
October 2021- Had prostate cancer surgery
September 2022- Diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer that has metastasized in the liver, lungs, and bones.
All donations will go toward Dave's biopsy which will help determine the next form of treatment needed. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover any of the costs. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
