Santiago Back to School Supplies 2023

Hi Friends and Families,

Just like every year I am organizing a back-to-school drive this year donating school supplies to kids that go to school here in Santiago, Dominican Republic where I live. This will be the third year doing this. Each year it gets bigger. Last year we were able to hand out 301 bookbags filled with essential school supplies to kids of all ages here in Santiago, thanks to your very generous donations!!! As always we try to help kids get a jumpstart on the schoolyear with basic school supplies. Last year I was able to donate to more schools and hope to do the same this year.

I created this gofundme for those that would like to donate any funds along with me to purchase these school supplies which will then be handed out to kids at a few schools here in Santiago. As a reference, last year the bookbag kits came out to US$7.26 for each kid. I was able to keep the cost not too high with high inflation (the previous year it was US$6.52/bag) through timely bulk purchases at the right locations. I try to purchase low-price but decent quality supplies to be able to provide to as much kids as possible. I am hoping we can have the same great results as last year with this effort!!! .

I will collect funds until Monday night, August 14th, to allow enough time to purchase all the school supplies in bulk to then organize the supplies and go hand out at a few schools. This as always will of course be transparent and I will post photos of the receipts and supplies I purchase. I purchase in bulk book bags and filled them with basic school supplies (notebooks, pens/pencils, Crayola, ruler, pencil sharpener, erasers, highlighters). I will also take pictures of all the events so you can see how we run these events.

Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated. As always, ALL the collected funds less gofundme’s minimal fees go to purchase of school supplies. I cover any other costs that arise.

Hola amigos y familias,

Como todos los años, este año estoy organizando una entrega de útiles escolares a los niños que van a las escuela aquí en Santiago, República Dominicana, donde vivo. Este será el tercer año haciendo esto. Cada año se hace más grande. El año pasado pudimos entregar 301 mochilas llenas de útiles escolares a niños de todas las edades aquí en Santiago, ¡Gracias a sus generosas donaciones! Como siempre, tratamos de ayudar a los niños a comenzar el año escolar con útiles escolares básicos. El año pasado pude donar a más escuelas y espero hacer lo mismo este año.

Creé este gofundme para aquellos que deseen donar fondos conmigo para comprar estos útiles escolares que luego se entregarán a los niños en algunas escuelas aquí en Santiago. Como referencia, el año pasado los las mochilas con útiles escolares salieron a US$7,26 por cada niño. Pude mantener el costo no demasiado alto en un ambiente de alto costos (el año anterior fue de US$6.52/mochila) a través de compras al por mayor oportunas en los lugares buenos. Trato de comprar útiles escolares de bajo precio pero de buena calidad para poder proporcionar a la mayor cantidad de niños posible. ¡Espero que podamos tener los mismos grandes resultados que el año pasado con este esfuerzo! .

Recaudaré fondos hasta el lunes 14 de agosto por la noche, para dar tiempo suficiente para comprar todos los útiles escolares al por mayor para luego organizar los útiles y entregarlo en algunas escuelas. Por supuesto, esto, como siempre, será transparente y publicaré fotos de los recibos y suministros que compre. Compro mochilas y las lleno con útiles escolares básicos (cuadernos, bolígrafos/lápices, Crayola, regla, sacapuntas, borradores, resaltadores). También tomaré fotografías de todos los eventos para que pueda ver cómo los llevamos a cabo.

Cualquier donación grande o pequeña sería muy apreciada. Como siempre, TODOS los fondos recaudados menos las tarifas mínimas de gofundme se destinan a la compra de útiles escolares. Yo cubro cualquier otro costo que surja.
