Santilli Field Reconstruction

Pat Santilli Memorial Baseball Field was established at Glenwood Park in Kane, PA and named for longtime baseball coach Pat Santilli. The field has hosted many games over the years, from the Knothole Leagues of the 40s and 50s to American Legion teams to Junior and Senior Little League teams, to Alley Cat Leagues and, most recently, High School teams. Being the only full-size 60/90 baseball field in the Kane Borough, the history and the memories made at Pat Santilli field are immense. Unfortunately, like in many rural communities, the Pat Santilli Memorial Baseball Field has not been able to escape economic hardships leaving the area to deteriorate over the years.

The current facility has resulted in a substantial loss of playing time because of the deficiencies in a dysfunctional drainage system beneath the field, which has ultimately deteriorated our playing surface over the years, making it inadequate, unplayable and unusable. In turn, our high school team has been displaced and forced to practice in parking lots and play at a field 15 miles away.

In January of 2022, a group of local baseball enthusiasts made up of parents, coaches, teachers, and local business people formed the Kane Baseball Dugout Club. We hope to work with the community to raise funds to reestablish and reconstruct this local treasure for the Kane Area High School Baseball team, our local Little League, American Legion Baseball team, and community fans!

In the epicenter of the Allegheny National Forest is Kane, a humble, rural community with a strong work ethic and an economy founded on timber resources. A proud tradition of community, work, and competition defines this small town. However, Kane does not escape the economic realities that exist in rural America. Low wages, scant resources and a reduced tax base are realities in Kane. Rural poverty is absolute. The effects of rural poverty on available resources for the community and its youth are real. Therefore, Kane residents and the Kane Baseball Dugout Club members humbly ask for financial assistance to refurbish and revitalize the community baseball field, which has been a valuable community resource over the years.
