Santoro Dream Adoption

Jonathon and Katie Santoro have been married for over six years. Since getting married, our dream has been to have a child of our own. We have spent a lot of time and money trying to conceive naturally and through medical procedures, including, fertility drugs, IUI, and IVF. After attempting IVF, a fertility specialist determined that Katie has entered pre-menopause, and the chances of being able to conceive a child would be a miracle. We have decided that we would like to adopt and are hoping to get some financial help to make our dream of having a child a reality. Many people do not realize how expensive adoption can be. We have chosen a local adoption agency that is on the lower end in terms of cost.

Here are some of the costs of adoption:

• Home Study: $3,000 (Valid for one year) Home Study Renewal: $350 (Most adoptions take more than a year)

• Support for the Birth Mother: $150 per month (Helps cover costs for food, cell phone, and other needs during the pregnancy)

• Placement Fee: $12,000

• Post-Placement Visits: $350 (Two to three are required by the agency)

• Other Miscellaneous Expenses: Fingerprinting, medical visits, etc.

Our hope is to raise enough money to cover approximately 30% of what it will cost us to adopt a child, which our estimate to be around $17,000.
