Sara Brantley & Familys Medical & Living Expenses

Sara Nicole Brantley, daughter of Mitchell and Jessica Brantley, is an 8-year old little girl who has a disease called Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic, life-threatening disease that damages the lungs and digestive system. CF affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices. It causes these fluids to become thick and sticky. They then plug up tubes, ducts, and passageways.
On Thursday, 3/4/21, Sara began to run a fever after having basic cold symptoms. On Friday, 3/5/21, after her breathing began to become labored, her parents took her to USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Mobile around 5:30 p.m., and she was admitted with pneumonia in both lungs. The doctors put her on a BiPAP machine due to her oxygen levels being in the low 80s. On Sunday, 3/7/21, they intubated and sedated Sara because her symptoms began to worsen, and her oxygen levels were still low. They also put a central line in due to her veins not being able to take a PICC line due to them blowing. On Monday, 3/8/21, they took Sara off of the paralytic so she could cough some of the fluid up out of her lungs, but she remained on the vent and being sedated.
She has been on a vent since Sunday, and this morning, 3/9/21, they got bloodwork back that showed Sara has MRSA in her blood stream and it is also growing on her lungs. Bacterial growth on CF patients lungs is common, but they are worried about the MRSA being in her blood stream. Sara was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham at 12:00 p.m. today, and will be staying in the PICU with a vent until her lungs heal and they get the MRSA infection under control. Both of her parents will stay with her, and the length of stay is unknown.
Staying in a hospital can be pricey with food, drinks, etc. and bills piling up at home, and her Dad will be out of work so he can be with his little girl. Please say a prayer for complete and total healing, and also for Sara’s parents as they battle this and worry about their little girl. Sara also has a sister, Blakely, that will be staying with family members but is also very worried about her baby sister.
Thank you for any donations or prayers that you are willing to give!
