Supporting Remi’s Future in Loving Memory of Sara Linder

In June 2024, Sara and Greg were thrilled to learn they were expecting their second child, and their two-year-old daughter, Remi, was overjoyed at the thought of becoming a big sister. However, just two months later, in August 2024, their lives were forever changed. Sara was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic melanoma after doctors found a large, inoperable tumor growing in her abdomen. Due to the tumor’s size and location, doctors determined that Sara’s pregnancy could not continue.

Despite this heart-wrenching setback, Sara remained determined to fight. She began aggressive cancer treatment in late August, but the tumor continued to grow, causing her unbearable pain, nausea, and vomiting. In January 2025, Sara was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital, hopeful that surgery might provide her some relief. However, when doctors attempted the surgery, they found the tumor to be too complex to remove without endangering her vital organs.

Following surgery, Sara spent more than a week in the ICU and has been recovering on the hospital’s oncology floor for the past four weeks, continuing her cancer treatment and pain management. But the road ahead remains long, and Sara’s journey is far from over.

The next step in Sara’s treatment is Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TIL) therapy, a promising but expensive new treatment for cancer. Sara was scheduled to begin TIL therapy on February 7, 2025, but her insurance has yet to approve the procedure. Thankfully, the treatment has now been rescheduled for February 17, 2025, but the financial burden of this treatment, along with ongoing medical expenses, is overwhelming for Sara, Greg, and their young daughter, Remi.

The funds raised through this campaign will help cover Sara’s medical expenses, including the cost of TIL therapy and other treatments. If there are any remaining funds, they will go directly toward helping secure Remi’s future, ensuring she receives the education she deserves.
