Sara Gering, Bristol Bay Gillnet Captain

We are reaching out for support from the Juneau and Bristol Bay communities and to anyone who knows Sara and her journey. After several years of fishing in the Bay as crew and captain, Sara was excited to now be captaining her own boat. The startup investments have been great. We were all counting on a successful season to return the investment. Unfortunately, only a short way into the run out to the Nushagak yesterday, she sustained a severe head injury that led to a medical evacuation to Anchorage and then Seattle. Her first surgery at Harborview Medical this morning (6/21) went well, but she is looking at more surgeries and a long road to recovery. The hope is that this Go Fund Me will raise enough money to help her and her family with the medical costs and the bills she will have with no immediate income.
