Paying Tribute to Sarah Akerly

It is with a heavy heart that Sunday evening our mother passed with her family by her side. After 40+ days on life support, endless prayer and countless medical options our dad, Terry Akerly and his children; Michael, Racquel, Jon and Jarred united together in order to make a very difficult decision to release her from her suffering.

This loss is too great for words and I think it is hard to define love in a person when there aren’t enough words to express what lives inside of some of the most impactful people that exist. That’s who Sarah was…. She was the kind of person who went out of her way to know the name of the same man who greeted customers at the grocery store, “because,” she would say, “they’re people and they deserve to be seen too.”

Impact isn’t how much you own. How much you’ve done. How many people you influence, in a world where everyone is trying to make a difference. It is the art of how much of a difference you make other people feel their existence makes. Leaving people better than how you found them. It is the sum total of the smallest acts of kindness that create the greatest change. It is love, it is love, it is love that this world needs more of and our mother understood that.

This fundraiser will be used to support our dad during this painful time in order to ease some financial burdens in regards to medical bills (for both parents), funeral, burial, headstone cost, grieving time away from work and other expenses that will arise as we all find a way to move forward in all the ways our mom would be proud of.
