Sarah and Andy Helman Family

Our wonderful friend and colleague Sarah Helman has suffered a tragic loss.

Sarah’s loving husband, Andy passed away suddenly at their home last week. Andy leaves behind Sarah and their three young children. As we all know, Sarah is a very loved teacher! She has taught second grade for many years, and this year, she is looking forward to teaching fourth grade at Cedar Lane Elementary School for LCPS. Sarah is that teacher who always has a line of previous students in her room each morning, coming to greet her and to get a Mrs. Helman hug along with some encouraging words before starting their day. Our hearts are broken for Sarah as she bravely navigates this new normal with three little ones. She is fiercely determined to maintain the structure and routines with her children at their community daycare so that she can continue to teach, while also sorting through expenses to keep her house and support her family.
