Sarah Callahan and her family.

Hello family and friends, we are raising funds to help support Sarah and her family during this difficult time. Here is her story.....
My name is Sarah Callahan, I'm mother to 3 smart and outgoing children, named Travis (18), Cadence(16) and James(6). I am married to my best friend and die hard partner Nick, we married New Years Eve of 2020. We own 2 businesses together, Callahan Towing & Glenside Sales & Service Inc, both located in Holley NY. You think being married is hard, try working together side by side 24/7....just kidding. We have always worked hard for what we have, and most times struggle, but have succeeded, and pulled ourselves out when needed. Have made huge strides, personally and professionally. Personally, I believe it's because we are 2 very stubborn people. The perfect chaos is what I call it.
In 2022, I started to struggle with health issues, and just plowed through like most people do, and just ignored a lot of my pain and illness. I'll be fine in a day or 2, it just needs to work itself out. 2022, was a rough year, I suffered a mild heartache in May of 2022, and started to just feel like crap, until fall of 2022, when I finally went to see my primary, after my husband was tired of me making excuses. They sent me in for several tests, scopes, scans, bloodwork, appointments with specialists, and so on. Stated that basically it was a GI issue so January of 2023, is when it got even more scary....I had a final scope with biopsy, and found out I had stage 3 esophageal cancer, and stage 1 stomach cancer...also learned that my stomach had twisted on itself, not allowing me to consume much of anything, so I was mainly a liquid diet. So, quick to act they started me on chemo, 3 days a week, and that was not fun by any means. All while, trying to operate our businesses. Stress was not a good match. I had chemo treatments until late May and decided that I just didn't want to have a crappy sick summer with my family, and we were falling further and further behind on things at the shop and in the towing, along with our personal lives. Dr.s were not pleased with my decision to stop, but I wanted to enjoy a few months, and get back a treatment plan when school resumed. So that I did...so September of 2023, I resumed treatment, and found that the cancer had spread to the outer lining of my stomach and lungs, and started a new treatment plan.
I began symptoms of neuropathy and it progressively had gotten worse, to the point where walking and day to day tasks HURT, and distracted me from most everything. I powered through it all, and started to feel better after I started immunotherapy in December of 2023.
Christmas of 2023, my legs began to hurt even worse, and swelling instantly and only got worse the longer I ignored it. I was becoming short of breath and my legs felt like elephant legs, I couldn't lift them at all. I drove myself to the ER, and they immediately transferred me to Strong after a sono on my legs, and a scan on my chest. I had over 7 large blood clots in my leg and 3 in my lung...I was hospitalized for 4 long nights of missing my family. I didn't want to put my family at risk to visit, due to the high volume of all the sick people in the hospital.
Needless to say, I was sent home, and added more to my treatment plan. I have progressed to stage 4 esophageal & stomach cancer, and I will get through this. I promise, cancer won't take me. Throughout, this entire time, we have been fighting with insurance companies, and disability. Nick has taken on all the weight of muscle of the company and is physically becoming exhausted. We currently have no employees. Every day is a new day, and we will get through this...we always have, and we will now. I will be continuing chemo and immunotherapy for the year and continuing to grow and strive with the businesses.
