Heyy hey!
I'm Sarah Cassandra and im raising funds for Body Contouring Surgery. All my life Ive know I was really a girl but I was so afraid to tell anyone even my closest friends and family because of the stigma that comes with being transgender in our society. For the last few years I've been working extra hard to make up for lost time and have had alot of success and support! Ive been on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for a year and a half and had laser hair removal, lip fillers, breast augmentation and have scheduled pitch elevation surgery and tracheal shave. Im also in the wait list for gender confirmation surgery. All of these things have been to help me finally feel at home in my body and be successful in my life!
2017 2020
It is because of this newfound confidence that I have been able to go back to school and make so many new friends and meet wonderful people! However I still struggle with my image and how that is treated. As much as I’ve tried to feel comfortable in my skin over the years, I keep seeming to hit a wall, and still get glares while walking down the street. My safety and emotional well being is something I am faced with everyday in public. Most people judge you by how you look very quickly. Top surgery, lipfillers and hair removal all help for sure, but most people judge me (especially as a tall woman) based on body shape and bone structure.

Body Contouring Surgery will help alleviate the amount of pressure and emotional trauma that I have to go through everyday just to survive. This surgery is pretty much the only way for girls like me to have a feminine body.

Currently I am living with the support of my family to pay my bills. They are very supportive but are not wealthy, my father is a retail manager and my mother teaches kindergarten. We have managed to accomplish as much as we have thanks almost solely to my mothers family insurance which has been trans friendly for the most part. Unfortunately, despite the medical necessity of body contouring and the impact it has on my life and daily interactions, my insurance refuses to offer coverage, infact all insurance companies I have researched specifically say they do not cover this surgery for trans women. Hopefully this will change in the future when the experiences of people like me become more understood. I know from an outsiders perspective, it might not seem that way. Gender dysphoria is different to explain to people who don't experience it. If your still reading this I hope that means I've done a good enough job explaining why this is so important to someone like me. Its personally hard for me to voice my needs as it is often looked at as weakness.
I would also like to say that if you are another trans person who is struggling month to month, I completely understand not being able to help out. I am often faced with feeling guilty about not being able to donate to others fundraisers, but don’t have the means to most of the time. Which is totally okay! *This is the total estimate for my surgery send to me by my doctor. I have asked for a bit more to cover my travel expenses and recovery and also incase the price turns out higher than estimated.
