In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this Sarah Esper Memorial fund (managed by Joe, Mark & Chris Esper). Proceeds will create scholarships for up to five of her graduating Seniors at Mesick High School. Any additional funds will be dispersed to charities Sarah regularly supported including Blaine Christian Church, Mesick Athletics, Traverse City West Athletics and others.

Sarah Christine Esper entered the world on June 1, 1976. Her sudden death on March 25th launched her into an eternal life with the Jesus whom she loved. Our family is forever grateful to the staff at the Breslin Center, the MHSAA and Sparrow Hospital for their loving care and especially to Karen Leinaar for being a great friend until the very end.

Sarah’s life was filled with family time, outdoor adventures, advancing educational opportunities and loving her friends! Sarah was a warm and generous person who was blessed with an effervescent personality and a wacky sense of humor. She shared her many talents and energy with several local groups including: Camp Roy-el, DeColores, Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol and Blaine Christian Church and Summer Camp.

Sarah made many life-long friends at St. Francis High School. Her interest in the sciences led her to develop athletic training skills that she later employed at Oakland University and at the University of Detroit.

After earning degrees at Oakland University and Eastern MI University Sarah became a wonderfully caring, committed public school teacher. Sarah had a gift for working with all students, especially those that faced the greatest obstacles. She encouraged and challenged her students and colleagues at Benzie Academy, TC High School and Mesick Consolidated Schools to always do their best.

Sarah is deeply loved and missed by her parents, Mark & Chris; her brother Joe, his wife Jaime and their children Avery, Drew and Luke. Time with Aunt Sarah was always special for the kids. Sarah is deeply loved by all of the members of the Adamo and Esper families, especially her many cousins. She shared a special bond with several other families.

Sarah was a woman of deep faith who put that into action each and every day. She truly lived the Beatitudes. Sarah was always giving to others during her life and after as a Gift of Life donor.

On Friday, April 14, we will share memories of Sarah in an informal setting from 6:00-8:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall.

On Saturday, April 15th, a celebration of Sarah’s life will take place at St. Francis Church on Saturday. Visiting with family will begin at 9:30 followed by the funeral service at 10:30. Friends unable to attend in person can visit via livestream at St. Francis Church - Traverse City. https://www.youtube.com/@saintfrancistraversecity4697/streams
