Hey, we're friends and colleagues of Sarah Fisher and she could do with our support just now.

Sarah has cerebral palsy affecting her left side and speech, generalised dystonia and mixed hyperkinetic movement disorder. You may know that she is a dedicated advocate for inclusion, and she has worked tirelessly through music to support others to access their courage and creativity to make music and musicking more inclusive and accessible for all regardless of background and abilities. Sarah advocates that everyone has the right to music.

Sarah is a powerhouse and she's funny with it. She has developed her own practice focusing on 'More Playing and Less Saying', and 'A Way not The Way', concepts she's shared at many conferences and events across the UK.

Here's some examples of how Sarah's work has impacted others:

'Sarah is a hugely valued member of the board of Sound Sense and champions access, equity and inclusion through her essential contribution to the charity.' (Rebecca Denniff, Chair of the Board, Sound Sense.)

'Sarah has been a vital and valued contributor to AMP for a number of years as a practitioner, trainer and steering group member, shaping our programme from her unique perspective and in-depth experience. She has produced delivery that has consistently been insightful, inspiring and popular - testament to her being such a pleasure to work with, as well as extremely knowledgeable. We have always had brilliant feedback from her sessions, including this from one Music Hub lead, which I feel sums her up so well; I couldn’t put it any better! (Sarah McWatt, Director, AMP)

“I can honestly say that I have never attended such a powerful training session. Sarah's approach of complete honesty, integrity and humour really made this session the most valuable session I've attended for a long time. Sarah's unique view point of a musician coming through the education system that failed for her was exceptionally thought provoking and really gave us something to think about on how we engage all of our young people, ensuring appropriate access and making provision individually and child centred.” (Music Hub Lead)

Sarah says 'on March 6th, my life was turned upside down...I have lost the ability to walk, use my hands properly and now rely on a wheelchair to get around'

Sarah has been in hospital for over 3 months and is now in a neuro-habilitation hospital potentially for a further 2 months.

She says 'my whole career was blown apart that day, as a self-employed musician my income went from being stable to zero overnight. My future is very much unknown as we don't know how much movement or independence I will recover '

Sarah is still running a house, she lives independently so there's no one to share bills with. She feels that her career, as a community musician, is currently 'completely out of reach'.

Sarah says, 'If you can and feel like supporting me, I would be forever grateful if you could donate even just £1 as I get myself back on my feet - literally!'

We appreciate any support you might be able to offer and are thankful for all the support that has been given in many other ways whilst Sarah has been facing this situation including Zoom sessions, escapes from the hospital, laundry, cat fostering, hospital visits, treats and gifts, not to mention the constant supply of jaffa cakes!
