Taking on the Isle of Wight for ALCS!

Welcome to our GoFundMe page! We are three siblings - Sarah, Jim and Gemma - and we’re on a mission to make a difference to a local charity that has been an incredible support to our mum, who was diagnosed with an incurable cancer last summer. The ALCS, Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support, is a community charity that aims to provide support for anyone living with and beyond cancer.

Starting on 5th June, we will be embarking on a four-day mission on the Isle of Wight. Split between us, but very much as a team effort, we plan to walk 68 miles, cycle 270 miles and carry out a 32-hour beach clean over the four days (including the miles cycling to the IOW and back). As part of the beach clean, we will be recording data of the refuse for the Marine Conservation Society.

We have seen first-hand the impact that cancer can have on individuals and their families, and we want to do our part to help fight this terrible disease. We want to raise awareness of just how invaluable it is to have a local support network, like ALCS, to help manage, and lessen, the impact and burden cancer can have on a person’s day-to-day life – practically, physically and emotionally.
