Sarah Matousek Recovery Fund

On Sunday December 4th Sarah had a seizure and stopped breathing. Thankfully paramedics were able to get her breathing again and took her to the hospital. Since that night she hasn't been fully awake or able to breathe on her own. Doctors don't know exactly what happened but they suspect a previously unknown heart condition combined with the side effects of some medications she was taking caused major problems with her heart. In the first 24 hours of her hospital stay doctors had to shock her heart 50+ times to keep it beating correctly. Sarah still hasn't been fully awake and is currently on a breathing machine and heavily sedated. Since Monday she has been showing positive signs but it's going to be a long slow road to recovery.  Doctors are expecting there to be no lasting mental damage but aren't sure about physical problems. Her heart is very weak and once the heart muscle is damaged it can't recover so she will likely have to deal with that even if she makes a full recory in all other regards.

Sarah is one of those people that has always been there with time, money and love for everyone else around her. Even if she wakes up tomorrow there is no way she can just go right back to work. I'm asking for help in covering Sarah's regular expenses as well as any medical expenses that will result. She does have insurance but we all know that a long stay in the ICU is going leave expenses that need to be covered.  I know not everyone will be able to help financially and that's okay. Prayers are welcome as well. If you can help financially please know that any amount is a blessing. I have no idea if $5000 is a reasonable amount but it's a place to start. If there ends up being extra money that isn't needed somehow I will donate that money to a local charity.

Sarah is only 34 years old and has a 12 year old daughter and an extended family that counts on her. I don't want Sarah to wake up to a mountain of debt and the inability to support the people she needs. At that point she should only have to worry about recovering.
