Sarah Mills Burial Fund
In July of 2016, Sarah was admitted in the hospital for an appendectomy, but in November she was still in an extreme amount of pain. She was re-admitted to the hospital to have a drain surgically implanted to drain the infection. They later found out that the infection was so bad she became septic and almost died. The Doctor said they possibly knicked her colon during the appendectomy, which resulted in a 5 week hospital stay. After 5 weeks she was sent home with the implanted drains, but was rushed back to the hospital on December 25th.
On December 26th, 2016 Sarah received emergency surgery to remove some of her colon and the infection. At that time they discovered a 5cm tumor in her colon, and was given a positive diagnosis of Colon Cancer on December 29, 2016. Sarah spent the next 5 weeks at St. Elizabeth Edgewood, and was eventually moved to the Drake Rehabilitation center for another 4 weeks. She was then transferred to UC Hospital and the Barrett Cancer Center at UC. Upon Doctor's orders Sarah began receiving Chemotherapy in March 2017.
She went through 6 long months of Chemotherapy treatments, and in September they started Keytruda to boost her immune system. On January 31, 2018 Sarah began receiving 7 daily radiation treatments, along with fluids and I.V. antibiotics.
On February 9, 2018, Sarah started running a fever and vomitting. She was admitted to UC Hospital on February 16, 2018 and was told she has an obstruction which was possibly caused by the radiation. Due to the massive infection the Doctors are unable to do surgery to remove the tumor, and was sent home on Hospice Home Care, February 24, 2018. The Doctors have given Sarah less than 30 days before she passes.
Sarah will be leaving behind two daughers, 8 years and 14 years old. Due to Sarah's young age (31), she does not have life insurance or burial insurance. Please help us raise money to fulfill Sarah's final wishes of being cremated.
