Sarah Olson’s excision surgery for endometriosis

Donation protected

As many of you may know, for years I’ve had unresolved health struggles that have left doctors with no idea what is wrong. More recently, more and more symptoms have come to light.

The past several months I've had excruciating, debilitating pain on and off, leading to 6 ER visits and countless visits to other doctors in search of answers. After a lot of pain, frustration, tears, and a ton of research, we've found that my symptoms line up with endometriosis.

Unfortunately, the only real way to definitively diagnose and treat endometriosis is through surgery, and there are very few places in the world with doctors who have the knowledge and expertise to fully excise (remove) the disease in its entirety. This is the gold standard for treating endometriosis. Most patients who take “typical” surgery routes with an obgyn or other methods they’ve been told about continue to suffer or need repeated surgeries. Endometriosis is not studied or known well enough for how common it is. I could go on and on about the misinformation from doctors and others about endometriosis I’ve been told in this process.

Because of this, I'll be traveling to the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia. The surgeons there are solely focused on treating endometriosis, and are experts on the disease. They are incredibly caring and understanding (which is something I’ve lacked a LOT with medical professionals I’ve gone to for help). Finding this place truly feels like a light at the end of this dark tunnel I’ve been travelling through.

Unfortunately the center is out of network for all insurance, and is evidently quite expensive. We've only been married two months and already have had to pay thousands in medical bills, and paying for surgery out of pocket would be really hard for us. Payment is required prior to surgery and I’m hoping to have the procedure done as soon as possible.

I feel stuck as I am currently in pain every single day, and I know that this is the care I need, but the expense is extremely daunting to say the least.

If you are able, please consider contributing to help me get the care I need without going into massive medical debt. Sharing my story on your social media, and/or prayers are also greatly appreciated.

And lastly a PSA: if you are experiencing severely painful periods or pelvic pain, please know that it’s not “normal” despite what we’re told growing up. Seek help to find answers if you feel you need it. :)

Thank you so much for all your love and support!
