Sarah Rowe & Family

Sarah Rowe is a beautiful and crazy smart 12 year old that had surgery for a recently diagnosed brain tumor on Monday, August 17th at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, FL.  The surgery took hours and the tumor was found to have grown from her brain into her spine.  The surgeons were unable to remove it all for fear of impacting her spine or cerebral functions that affect her heart and lungs.  The pathology report has not been finalized but they believe it is an ependymoma.  All grades of ependymoma tumors are considered cancer.  There may be a need for further surgeries, chemotherapy or radiation.  

This is an extraordinary family that has always been there for their family and friends over the years.  They now need our help and I can't think of a better way than to organize this fund to somehow soften the financial impact that something like this can have on their lives.  Their focus needs to be on Sarah and helping her return to the life any 12 year old should live...going to school, arguing with her brother and dreaming about what she's going to be when she grows up. 

Funds raised will go directly to the family to offset expenses related to care for Sarah and time away from work that Brian and Heidi will likely be faced with.  Please consider a donation no matter how small to support the Rowe family in their time of need.  This is the kind of family that would rally to the support of any of us if we needed it...they need our support now.

We have adjusted our fund raising goal to reflect our more complete understanding of the treatment process for Sarah and the financial obligations that Heidi and Brian will be faced with.  The support friends and family have shown to this point is nothing short of incredible.  Thank you all so much for your contributions and for sharing the story of this amazing family!
