Sarah Trager's New Prosthetics
Donation protected
Hi, we are Frank and Jennifer Metallo. Our daughter, Sarah Trager got sick with meningocoxcemia when she was three years old. She survived, but due to capillary damage from the disease, she had to have both legs (one below the knee, the other leg with some of the knee) and most of her hands amputated three weeks after she first got sick. Sarah is a beautiful adult now and after many reconstructive surgeries, she has a partial hand on her left arm and her real thumb and partial index finger on her right. She wears prosthetic legs. Sarah gets her legs from Beacon Prosthetics and Orthotics in Raleigh, NC. Up until now, she has been covered by insurance or has been able to pay her co-pays. Due to changes in Medicaid, she lost her supplemental policy last year and her co-pays along with regular parts and maintenance can cost up to $6000 to $10,000. Sarah does not have the money to cover this. She has gone without new legs now for about a year. Beacon can start a new set of legs immediately once Sarah has the co-pay. If you can help Sarah, she would be able to get her new set of legs which will help her to walk better and not be in such pain all the time.
Sarah never complains, she has a huge heart and such love for people everywhere. Thank you for helping our daughter. We appreciate it very much!
