Sarah's Everest to End Duchenne Trek 2024
Tax deductible
Hello Friends and Family!
On November 1st, I will be embarking on an exciting journey to Mount Everest Base Camp to raise money for research and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a progressive muscle wasting disease, and currently, there is no cure. Children with DMD have a much shorter life expectancy. I will be trekking for Griffin, one of my former Kindergarten students, Gus (my trek leader’s son), and all other children and families affected by this disease. I have thought a lot about why this journey is so important to me. Hiking to Everest Base Camp is symbolic in the sense that it simulates some of the very symptoms that children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy live with. Day in and day out, they experience tired muscles, and a heart and lungs that constantly feel overworked. Although this may be a difficult journey for me, the symptoms I experience while hiking will only be temporary.
Please consider donating to this very special fundraiser. All donations make a difference, and all proceeds will go directly to the Hope For Gus Foundation. These funds will be used for research and awareness of DMD. My goal is $5000, and I must raise at least $1500 to participate on this epic trek. I will be paying for my trip and airfare on my own, so 100% of my donations will go to the Hope for Gus Foundation. If you are in a position to donate and/or are so moved, please consider donating to help find a cure! I will be posting a weekly update, as I prepare for this big hike. I hope you will stay tuned and join me for my trek to Everest to End Duchenne (ETED). Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Sarah
