Sarah's fund for ME Research UK
Hi I’m Sarah. I’ve been challenged myself with increasing running distances over the last few years, and I’ve finally entered the big number - the 100-miler, on 16/17th July! This seems insane to me despite being the one taking it on, as it’s 3 times as far as some of my other distances, but it’s time to try. This will be a HUGE challenge for me (the cutoff is 32 hours - imagine being on your feet for 32 hours straight!), and is it NOT guaranteed that I will complete it, despite the faith people offer when they say ‘I know you will do it’. To stack the odds in my favour I am training hard, and sacrificing social life in favour of my training plans. I wish to make the most of this endeavour to raise money for some much needed causes at the same time, so if you are impressed, or like seeing the photos I take when I’m out on a runs , or like the sound of the causes I am supporting, or just like me, or for any other reason, please do donate, even if it’s just a pound or two.
One of the causes I have chosen is a ME Research UK. I have some friends with ME and it’s a horrible illness as it changes your whole life, every second of every day. One of my friends was also an ultra runner and now can’t run at all, or even walk more than a couple of minutes, and can’t work to bring in an income. Research for this illness is underfunded so I’d love to be able to help.
A little more information from ME Research UK: “Our principal aim is to commission and fund high-quality scientific (biomedical) investigation into the causes, consequences and treatment of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), a debilitating illness which affects between 0.2 and 0.4% of the population. ME Research UK - Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation - Charity No SCO36942” Thank you
