Meet Sarah Grace Wheatley! Sarah and Tani are identical twin 6 year olds. They were born at 28 weeks. Sarah was 1Lb 10oz and Tani was 2lbs 12 oz. The entire pregnancy was a roller coaster. When Sarah was 5 months old she was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition and Jason and I stood our ground on planning for her life and eventually, Sarah's medical team followed us. It paid off! She is thriving away and deserves all the freedom and access to the world we can give her and for her to join her sister as often as possible and safe. We need the proper vehicle to do that.
We could tell you about all the close calls, all the secondary ailments and disabilities Sarah incurred when she suffered a stroke at fifteen months but I prefer to leave it at that because again...we are planning for her amazing future!
Jason and I did all the soul searching and rock and stone-turning we could to get a disability-accessible vehicle in a financially secure way. We need help <3 and we are ready to ask you to join us in investing in Sarah's ride while we will be happy to Chauffer Sarah and Tani around as they infuse their amazing vibes into this complex world!
Sarah got a new wheelchair! It is heavy and does not disassemble well. The last six years have taken a toll on Jason and I physically and Sarah has outgrown using the stroller. To access this world safely and fully Sarah needs this accessible vehicle. We found the right van, it's the Chrysler Pacifica with a manual rear entry.
The van costs approximately $70K all in. The modification accounts for about $25K of that price. We did not get the grant we expected and so we need to raise around 23,000 total to do this. We had to extend the fundraiser as a result and as much as we were shocked we also accept that another family in need is being covered and we have to reach far and wide to get there ourselves. Your support by gift, by sharing by educating others about the need and how to participate is priceless.
