Sarah's Lungs Part 2

Hello Supporters of Sarah’s Journey-

As many of you know, my sister Sarah had a double lung transplant October 31st 2022. Due to the incredible generosity of Sarah’s donor family, she was able to finally experience how it feels to breathe with normal lungs. Unfortunately, life has thrown all of us a huge curve ball. Sarah got COVID 4 months post-transplant and it had a devastating effect on her brand-new lungs. Despite getting through acute rejection and enduring multiple medical therapies, she has steadily declined and gone into chronic rejection. Heartbreakingly, the ability to breathe normally, and have any quality of life has been taken from her.

When my sister got her new lungs, all she wanted to do was get an actual job. She accomplished that for a short time, but now, at the age of 22 she can no longer work. The oxygen concentrator is back in her room. Brushing her teeth exhausts her. An oxygen tank follows her every step. Her lung function is down to 16%, and her medical team has stated it is time for a 2nd double lung transplant.

Sarah is someone who continues to amaze me every day. Her ability to stay strong and lift others up always astounds me. She will always be the strongest person that I know. I know that she will accomplish her other life long dream of hiking a mountain, once she has recovered from this surgery.

My sister, family, and I most definitely need all of your prayers, warm thoughts, and well wishes as we start this next step of Sarah’s journey. As you can imagine, a second double lung transplant brings so many risks, and the overall financial impact is overwhelming. For that reason, I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my sister and my parents. Your donations will help cover the cost of surgery, medication, and living arrangements for my family during her recovery, while she has to stay close to the hospital.
