Sarajevo - Corona COVID-19 help for the poor
Donation protected
During this inevitable and unfortunate pandemic, there will be a lot of people in Sarajevo and entire Bosnia and Herzegovina who won’t be able to rely on their normal sources of income (if they are lucky to have one), leave their house or buy groceries for their families. Those with underlying health conditions are most at risk from the Coronavirus, and again, the impact differs depending on your age and social status. Families or older individuals with limited resources cannot afford food today, let alone stockpile three weeks or more worth of food in anticipation of a quarantine.
We're about to learn many lessons from the coronavirus - most of them will break our hearts - but let’s be human and not let it teach us one terrible lesson: inequality kills. For hundreds of low-income seniors and families in Sarajevo, coronavirus is a food-security issue.
We are starting this campaign to raise money which we will use to buy basic life necessities such as flour, rice and cooking oil, package them in bags and boxes and distribute them to older people and less fortunate families. By our estimation, for every 30 EUR raised, we will provide support to one household. Furthermore, during this campaign, we will be reaching out to local companies to try to secure a discount or donations in the form of food and hygiene-related necessities. Other people that will be bringing this project to reality:
1) Rijad Muhić (facebook.com/rijad.muhic)
2) Damir Avdić (in/damir-avdic)
3) Nedim Bibić (in/nedim-bibić-7b6429161)
4) Alen Efendić (facebook.com/BeastEasy)
5) Vedad Mešanović (in/vedadme)
Crisis often makes us forget about those that are less fortunate than us. With a disaster of this magnitude, we have to work together to help those in need and support those less fortunate. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted (Aesop).
During the execution of this campaign, we will keep all our supporters updated. If you are not able to donate, please share our efforts with your contacts. Any form of support is welcome and much appreciated.
For any additional questions, you can also contact the team directly: [email redacted]
Thank you!
Note:
Campaign/Funding is started by our friend in Munich, Germany, because Bosnia and Herzegovina is not on the list of the allowed countries for funding at the moment (state 17.03.2020). After withdrawal, collected donations will be transferred to above mentioned people who will be responsible for buying the groceries and delivering them to people in Sarajevo.
