Sara Johnson's Foreign Exchange

Hello, I am Sara Johnson, a determined, independent high school student with a dream of going abroad and learning as much as I can.
When an opportunity arose for me to have an experience of a lifetime, I jumped on it. I was given a chance to become an exchange student and I am working hard to make that dream a reality. Over the past few months I have been working with AFS Exchange Programs with meeting the requirements to go to Spain for the 2018-2019 school year.
Most people my age would gawk at the idea of living in a foreign country- away from their friends and family and unable to fluently speak the language, completely cut off. Yes, I am terrified of that, but the only way to truly learn is to seize those opportunities and fumble your way to a place where you are comfortable, a place where what you once gawked at is your reality.
And you may ask, well if you are scared, why would you want to go, well that’s simple (ish). I love culture, I love learning and experiencing other cultures and societies. I am determined to go to college and major in International Affairs, and how advantageous would it be career if I had a year in a foreign country under my belt. Yet, the benefit of standing out to colleges is not the only reason I want to go. If you know me, you can probably say that I am very easy going and open to new experiences, and this- going to Spain is the ultimate experience, and one with many benefits.
Please help someone with a passion achieve their dream...
Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
