Sasha Garcia Big Band Album

Hi! I'm Sasha Garcia. I am jazz vocalist from Dallas! Currently, I attend the University of North Texas for a degree in Jazz Studies.

Before attending UNT for vocal jazz, I started out as a music director for North Texas Performing Arts, a local community theater where I was essentially raised. My work at NTPA led me to be awarded the Broadway World Award for Best Music Direction & Orchestra Performance for my work on Spongebob: the Musical in 2022. I also contributed to DownBeat award winning recordings from the contemporary group known as the UNT Zebras. I am so thankful to all of the wonderful musicians that surround and support me, and I am beyond excited to continue my musical journey alongside them.

Recording a big band album has always been a dream of mine, and being surrounded by so many insanely talented jazz musicians at UNT makes that dream a possibility. I have gathered some of the most talented, hardworking, and professional musicians to play and arrange on this project. Because this is a professional endeavor, I am in need of help for funding for this project. This would include funding for: band members, arrangers, recording time in a studio, mixing and mastering engineers, digital distribution, marketing and promotion, rehearsal spaces, and copyright fees.

This 6 track album is full of classic and modern big band jazz. From standards like “Honeysuckle Rose” and “Body and Soul” to more obscure jazz charts like “How Many Times?” and “Me and My Shadow,” this album tells a story of love, loss, acceptance, and reunification.

As a storyteller, I use music to express things words alone cannot. Creating this project is not only a jumpstart to my career, but a testament of love, passion, and hard work.
