Sasha Mortensen & Jessica Raymond
Spende geschützt
On Wednesday July 29th Sasha Mortensen and Jessica Raymond met on Keith Road near Plateau Sawmill in Vanderhoof, BC to exchange kids for a sleepover. Keith Road is the half way mark between their homes.
The 2 women were pulled off to the side while Jessica's 2 kids hopped in Sasha's vehicle with her own 2 kids. While on the side of the road, a logging truck went by, stirring up a lot of dust and minimizing visibility, followed by a pickup. The driver of the pickup did not see Sasha and Jessica embraced in a hug beside their vehicles and ran over top of Sasha pulling her under his vehicle and trapping Jessica between her own pickup and the travelling pickup, rolling her down the sides of the vehicles and tossing her to the ground.
Sasha was thrown from under the travelling pickup under her own jeep. Jessica came out of her shocked state to the sounds of their screaming kids and was able to pull Sasha from under the jeep and revive her on scene. Jessica's daughter called 911 and her dad Chris Raymond while Jessica tried to cover Sasha's gaping wounds with gauze from a first aid kit the driver of the pickup provided. Her legs were cover in scratches and one of her feet was scraped down exposing the bones.
Paramedics arrived on scene and had Sasha air lifted to Prince George hospital where she underwent emergency surgery to remove her spleen and stop a liver bleed. She was put into a medical induced coma for approximately 3 days due to brain swelling. A later xray showed Sasha had a broken ankle, broken foot, and 5 broken verebrae in her upper back. When doctors brought her out of the coma, Sasha had full speech abilities and was able to wiggle her toes and fingers, though she had no memory of the accident.
Jessica was rushed to Vanderhoof hospital via ambulance and later moved to Prince George for further treatment. She has multiple fractures in her right shoulder and upper chest along with severe internal bruising including bruised lungs. Jessica was released from Prince George hospital early morning of July 30th, however she was re-admitted on August 3rd to do complications with the internal bruising and released later the same day.
Sasha is currently still in Prince George ICU accompanied by her husband Russell Lenny while her 2 kids are in the care of their grandparents. She ia scheduled to meet with an orthopedic surgeon on August 6th in regards to her foot and doctors are very optimistic about her recovery.
Jessica is at home on bed rest with her husband Christopher Raymond and their 2 kids and is expected to make a full recovery in time.
A 'Go Fund Me' page has been set up jointly for Sasha Mortensen and Jessica Raymond as their spouses are taking time away from their logging industry jobs to care and support these 2 women and their families through the difficult healing process as well as to cover ongoing medical related expenses.
Funds will be withdrawn from the go fund me account by myself personally and etransfered to both Jessica and Sasha directly.
