Sasha’s Recovery from Spinal Cord Injury
Donation protected
Hello there! Im Natasha and I am raising funds for my brother Sasha and his wife Milka after Sasha’s recent life altering Spinal Cord Injury when he fractured his neck at the C3/C4 vertebrae.
On a night just like any other my brother went to bed not knowing that this seemingly ordinary night would change the course of our lives forever. After waking up to use the bathroom close to 3am, Sasha’s wife heard a thump and Sasha call out to her. Sasha had taken a terrible tumble hitting the vanity with his head and immediately could not feel his arms or legs.
He was urgently rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery on his fractured neck and spine to decompress the pressure.
Sasha was in acute intensive care for 2weeks, and we were initially told that due to his severe injury he would never be able to breathe on his own. These were the darkest 2 weeks of our lives. Sasha however, being the fighter he is fought hard to relearn how to breathe again and to strengthen his diaphragm.
Two weeks ago he commenced intensive rehabilitation to try and regain some sensation and movement in his arms and legs which we are very blessed for. But we know that it’s a very long road ahead. He is slowly making progress and we continue to pray for his strength to keep fighting.
Sasha is the most generous and kindest person we know and as we are feeling completely helpless I decided to start this go fund me to raise funds to help support both Sasha and his wife Milka. When the time comes for Sasha to be released from hospital their home will require significant modification to enable him to be sent home, his wheel chair alone will cost $50k and there will be many other modifications needed to ensure Sasha is able to enjoy and live comfortably in his own home.
This rehabilitation journey will be long and hard, as the doctors said this is a marathon, not a sprint. But Sasha is the most courageous human whom is fighting hard despite still struggling mentally with this injury.
Any support in sharing this cause, prayers and financial donations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
