Homeless Mom and Daughter
Donation protected
I realize there are many families in need and this time of year is tough for so many but one scenario has risen to the top. I am the principal at Pinnacle Charter School in Thornton and I have a very special 8th grade girl who is homeless. Despite her scenario, she comes to school everyday and makes straight A’s. She is the most kind and humble human I know. We decided to ask her what she would like for Christmas. She was extremely hesitant but eventually told us her only wish was school uniform clothes that fit her, a warm coat for her mom and dog food for her dog. She wears the same thing most everyday and we do have dress down Fridays. Of course, she just wants to fit in. We asked if there was anything else she wanted and she said no, that was it. (Breaks my heart!)
She does like to read so maybe if anyone has books that they would like to donate, she probably would love that. I would think anything that a 13 year old girl would like, she would be thrilled. Please note that we are doing some things as a school but with so many of our families in need, we spread out our giving. Anything a bit extra from our awesome community would be over the moon amazing.
If you would like to help Tammi Amack and my student, please reach out! I am able to now release her name with her permission.
Size: 1X
Uniform: khaki, black or navy pants with elastic band; white, navy or grey collar shirts; white, grey, navy sweatshirt
Mom coat - 3X
As suggested, I created an Amazon wishlist but of course these are just suggestions. She asked for almost nothing... https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3BQ5XDQA0Q4S…
News outlets want to run this story for mom and her daughter. Our hope is that she gets enough to make it through the holidays with enough to get a place to stay with a shower. They are currently #20 on the list for housing. She was #117 in April when she first applied. She has a job but it is not enough to get housing. Anything our community can do to help this mom and our Pinnacle student would be amazing.
Thank you!
