Hi my name is Dominic I am the father of beautiful daughter who just delivered a beautiful baby boy As some know, it’s been a wild ride of a week for our family…
Sunday around noon Bri and Trev went to hospital for extreme chest pain feeling like broken ribs, shortness of breath, and contractions. After tests for hours, some meds, more tests, scans, X-rays, we were pushed for early delivery of baby boy due to what looked preeclampsia for Bri.
When we prepped for beginning delivery process the doctor found alarming evidence that showed baby needed to be out immediately, which was first step of treatment for preeclampsia.
Our baby boy was born at 8:02 pm 4/8/24, Bri was stabilized and had been put totally under as the epidural didn’t cut it, and was in recovery after emergency c section. Around 3:30 am it was determined her body was taking a turn for worse, with liver looking to be affected, and she was airlifted to Chicago to be worked on by specialists that were better trained for what ended up being a pretty rare case of HELLP, with her body actually fighting itself and liver in the end partially rupturing.
She’s since been stabilized and treated, no further surgeries praise the Lord, and is currently still being closely monitored in Chicago and treated very well! We aren’t totally out of the fight yet and she has a long road of recovery, but mama is doing well and liver is repairing itself with enzyme counts returning closer to normal.
Baby boy is doing phenomenal!! Very very fast and rough delivery and he lost blood for a small amount of time to brain, so he was immediately treated to hopefully support brain cell growth and repair and prevent seizures. We had been to hospital days before for contractions and chest pain (from liver, but not known or showing on scans at time) and thankfully got 2 steroid shots for lung development for baby if he came prematurely, which he did only a day later…
Baby had fully functioning lungs pretty much right away and showed great vitals and function! Every day has gotten better and better results and he is looking great for being 4 weeks early! Currently breathing fully on his own and standby air supply to ensure perfect air intake was removed earlier today.
One precaution for blood loss to brain was putting him on a 72 hour cooling pad to stabilize the body and brain and ensure brain healing, normal body temperature ran high risk of permanent damage if there was any. His cooling cycle ends around midnight tomorrow with a 6 hour warmup after, and we will hopefully be able to hold baby by Friday morning.
It has been a scary scary process and many hurdles to get to today, but our family, friends, and church family have shown such overwhelming support already!! Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and shown support. We are so thankful and feel so loved! We are hoping soon Bri can be transferred back to local hospital and meet baby for first time, it has been heartbreaking being separated, but both mama and baby are healing well and hopefully will be connected soon.
My family setup a link to help with meals if you feel obligated to help that way, and we have had a lot of offers to help with childcare which will be definitely needed in coming months. We are thankful for all the help and most of all just ask for support through prayer!
