Support my Tech Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I’m raising funds to attend two major tech conferences in the U.S. this May. one where I’ll be speaking, and another where I’ll be volunteering.
This is a huge opportunity for me to grow in my tech career, build new connections, and give back to my community.
I usually pay for my conference trips by saving which is very difficult but unfortunately this time due to a lot happening in my personal life I’m unable to do this.
I know you might wonder, “Why not just stay home?” or “If you can’t afford it, maybe it’s not the right time.” And I get that and I’m a bit scared posting this because it’s a lot of courage to ask for help.
The truth is, I’ve worked hard to save and even borrow for past opportunities like this, but this year has been tougher than usual. I’m not asking lightly, I’m asking because I believe this experience can genuinely move me forward, and I’m doing everything I can to make it possible, including reaching out for support.
Here’s a transparent breakdown of the estimated costs (I live in Malta):
• Flight ticket (economy): €1,454 ( trip from location - trip across both cities - back to my location)
• Transportation (between the two cities): €200
• Hostel accommodation: €623
• Food (for almost two weeks in the U.S.): €250
Total goal: €2,527
If you’d like to support, any amount is deeply appreciated. You’re not just helping me attend conferences, you’re helping me keep growing, building, and showing up in spaces where people like me are still underrepresented.
Even just sharing this campaign means a lot.
Thank you so much for reading and for believing in me.
Note: You might notice that the GoFundMe goal is listed in pounds (£) rather than euros (€). This is because my sister who kindly helped set up the campaign, her account is based in the UK. Our original goal is €2,527, but since we’re unsure how much will reach me after currency conversion and fees, we’ve set the target as £2,527 to be safe.
This is our first time using GoFundMe, so thank you for your understanding!
