Savana's Travel Fund

This June, I am taking a leap towards a dream of mine: a solo trip across the states to work on small scale organic farms! Since 2021, I have worked on various organic farms in my hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Growing nutritious food for my community is my biggest passion in life, and am unbelievably excited to have an opportunity to learn from so many knowledgeable farmers who have spent their lives caring for the land. This summer will add even more experience under my belt and set me up for success with managing and/or owning a farm of my own some day.

Through the WWOOF program, I will be living and working on a family owned vegetable farm in eastern Pennsylvania for a month, and a native plant nursery in Vermont for a month! I will be traveling by car, and am very grateful to have a reliable mode of transportation to get me to each state. However, there is maintenance that needs to get done before I take off (such as a new car battery), plus adding to my emergency fund in case of car troubles on the way there or back.

The WWOOF program is an incredible opportunity as I will be provided food and housing in exchange for my labor, but since it is a volunteer position, I will still be without an income for two months. The funds raised will also help give me a leg up on moving costs when I get back in town and support me through a huge transitional period in my life.

I am unbelievably grateful for any kind of support, it means so much to me to know there are people in my life who will push me in the directions I need to go. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! <3
