Savanna Mathis 24 years old, cardiac arrest

Hi, my name is Neko and my little sister Savanna has been in the hospital the last 16 days in the ICU because of a cardiac arrest. Someone tried to murder her and her heart was stopped for at least 9 minutes. They shocked her quite a few times to get a pulse back, but the doctors have been working tireless trying to keep her alive. She now has a feeding tube, trach, and dialysis port in and we’re just waiting to see if she regains any brain activity. The initial readings on her brain were not good as it went without blood flow and oxygen for quite some time. This has been an incredibly tough time on all of our family but especially our mother Shannon. No parent should ever have to deal with what she is going through, and the next decisions she has to make regarding her baby girl are going to be the toughest decisions she’s ever had to make in her life. She has remained by her side for weeks and tried comforting her as any mother would. With being at the hospital so long she has fallen behind on multiple bills, including her car payment and she shouldn’t lose her vehicle and get so far in debt just because an atrocious act happened to her daughter. If we do get a miracle and she comes out of it they did say she will be in a long term care facility and never be able to truly be on her own again not to mention hundreds of thousands of dollars in hospital bills. My mom is stressing about that now as well because she doesn’t even have money to pay her bills yet alone pay for a care facility and all the expenses that have come with trying to keep my sister alive. Please find it in your heart to help my momma be with her baby and not have to worry also about financial hardships when she is having to deal with all of this terrible news. Anything you can give would be tremendously appreciated, and we would be forever grateful. I have never made one of these and don’t like to ask for handouts but I need some help for my momma she is going through enough right now and if I had the money to help her I would but I have also fallen behind because I spent the first week with her and live check to check. UPDATE: My sister will be going to palliative care in the next couple days which means they will just keep her comfortable and pain free until she passes on. Her brain is dead and even though her body is strong she will never be able to have any quality of life at all so that is why we have made that decision. This has been the most awful thing our family has ever been through and I truly appreciate all of your support! I will continue to post updates as to when she gets in palliative care. Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love prayers.

Final update: My sister has gotten worse and her Brain is hemorrhaging bad now and she is in a lot of pain so they upped her medicine. She will be going to hospice this Friday and they will remove her feeding tube and all monitors and keep her heavily medicated so she isn’t in pain and can pass peacefully. This is going to be the hardest thing my mom and I have ever been through having to lay my sweet sister to rest and we would love to give her a great memorial and ceremony so any thing you could help with we greatly appreciate it. Love you so much sis and you can finally quit having to fight and be in peace, out of pain, and with your dad and grandpa. The good die young for sure and you definitely deserve this sweetheart you were the most beautiful soul and I will cherish all our memories growing up. I was 8 when you were born and I have always loved being your big brother and teach you things and protect you and it kills me I wasn’t there to be able to protect you from this.
