Savannah's Hip Surgeries
Donation protected
Hello, we are the Vogee's. We have been serving as missionaries out of Youth With A Mission in Lakeside, Montana for the past 4. In those 4 years Savannah has developed severe hip and groin pain, and as she is passionate about dance and is a member of the Dance department in YWAM, it has severely hindered her ability to do what she came here to do. The pain has steadily increased, and a few months ago Savannah was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in both hips. This means that her hip joints formed abnormally and need to be surgically corrected to prevent further degeneration. It not only inhibits her ability to dance but also to do normal, everyday tasks without experiencing severe pain in her hips and surrounding areas.
In order to correct her hips, she will need to have a procedure called a Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO). The PAO utilizes the bones she already has and repositions them in a way that will provide more stability and prevent further injuries and degeneration. If she does not have the procedure her hips will continue to degenerate until she becomes disabled and qualifies for a total hip replacement in her 50s.
Unfortunately the PAO is not provided by any surgeons in Montana, so we will be having it done by a specialist in Los Angeles. Savannah will have a total of 6 surgeries to correct both hips over the course of this next year. We don't have a confirmed date for the first surgery yet, but we know it will take place by this December. The out of pocket medical expenses for all the surgeries for us will be $20,000, which we are not able to cover by ourselves.
We appreciate any and all donations and support! Thank you!
