As the original owner, I started Green River BBQ in 1984. For 40 years, Green River BBQ has been a local staple, serving not just amazing barbecue, but also serving as a gathering place for our tight-knit community. I raised my family in this business, and it holds a special place in my heart.

Less than a year ago, Tom and Bree Haas took over Green River BBQ, investing their life savings into continuing this beloved tradition. They purchased not just a restaurant, but a legacy. Now, just months into living their dream, they're facing a devastating setback.

Hurricane Helene devastated this beloved cornerstone of Historic Downtown Saluda, North Carolina. For four decades, this restaurant has been more than just a business—it's been the heart of our community, a place where generations of families have gathered, and where countless local teenagers got their first jobs.

Green River BBQ isn't just another restaurant—it's a vital part of Saluda's economy and culture. The business:

Employs local residents

Attracts tourists to our historic downtown

Supports local suppliers and farmers

The Devastation

The hurricane caused severe damage to this historic establishment:

A major landslide occurred behind the building

The kitchen and dining room were filled with mud

Significant structural damage to the building

Extensive floor damage throughout

What We Need

The rebuilding process requires:

Construction of a retaining wall behind the restaurant

Reconstruction of damaged portions of the building

Complete replacement of flooring

Kitchen equipment restoration

General repairs and renovations
