Save a Boy Sentenced for Blasphemy in Nigeria
Tax deductible
Atheist Alliance International is increasing its legal presence in Kano, Northern Nigeria, after a 13-year-old boy was sentenced to 10 years in prison for allegedly insulting Allah in a heated argument with a friend. Umar Farouk was just 12 years old when he allegedly made the remark, but the judicial official of Kano’s Islamic Shariah Court, Ibrahim, sentenced the young boy in early August 2020. Atheist Alliance International will be employing our lawyers who have already lodged a formal appeal to stay the execution of Yahaya , the 22-year-old Islamic gospel singer accused of singing a song that the Shariah Court in Kano found to be blasphemous and worthy of execution.
If you do not believe that a 13-year-old boy should serve 10 years in prison for a mere remark, if you believe in human rights, children’s rights, and if you want to help AAI fight this charge, we call on you to help us fund his defence. At this stage we only need $1000 dollars to fund his appeal, but if the case is successfully appealed we will need to extend this fundraiser to see this case all the way through to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Please help Atheist Alliance International fight for the human rights of this innocent child!
