Mark Ramjohn, better known to us as DJ Scobie, and his family are facing eviction soon from their home. As like for Gayelle and Errol Fabian, the banks will no longer offer mortgage deferrals. The economic impact on the entertainment industry in Trinidad and Tobago during Covid-19 pandemic is showing grave effects on it’s members and the community.
We remember DJ Scobie back in the days at Attic Shoppes of Maraval where he first came on the scene playing on Latin Thursday nights. He then moved to Upper Level Club West Mall and Genesis in Starlite Plaza in Diego Martin. Remember Coconuts nightclub where he became the resident guest DJ? I don’t believe there wasn’t a lime that DJ Scobie wasn’t entertaining us with mixes that capsule our generation. In 2006, himself along with Derek Chin Fatt created the very first social song in karaoke in the Caribbean. Later that year he introduced video djing!
Scobie has also contributed to the growth of many of the top artists of today with backing tracks such as Kess Dieffenthaller, Rikki Jai, Dil E Nadan, Second Imij, H2O Philo, Kevon Carter, Wendy Sheppard, Wendell Constantine to name a few!! He is also on a drive to restore local music videos that he shares on Twitch for free!!! Scobie has a big heart, always giving of himself whenever he can. He’s not only my friend but an icon of our generation. Let’s show our support for Scobie’s family so they can retain their home and continue to grove to his passion for the art!! All funds raised will be transferred directly to his account. Thank you for your generosity.
