We ask you to help us save a significant piece of Utah's past for the benefit of present and future generations. The Alrasool Islamic Center located in Taylorsville, Utah (1247 4800 S Taylorsville UT 84123 ) truly embodies Utah's rich religious heritage. In 1894, immigrant pioneers from Europe constructed this building to serve as the center of the fledgling Taylorsville-Bennion community. 130 years later, this building shelters immigrants from Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other parts of the Middle East who have come to Utah for the opportunities that America offers. The old Taylorsville-Bennion Ward Building is now home to the Alrasool Islamic Center, one of the only Shīʿa mosques in the Intermountain Region.
To help members of Alrasool's congregation stabilize their heritage building, the National Fund for Sacred Places has offered the Islamic Center a prestigious $250,000 matching grant. Only 15 other congregations of 400 total applicants across America were awarded this same grant. Alrasool has made progress in its fundraising efforts, but your support is still crucial to making this endeavor a success.
