Adams' Pack Station is a private vendor, but is under the "control" of the US Forest Service. The USFS has been furloughed due to the government shutdown and so the pack station and general store has also been shutdown since December 23, 2018. Adams' Pack Station (APS) relies on January to make up for the lack of business during the holidays. On top of that, APS has had terrible third quarter (2018). We don't know why. Right now we have no income coming in, the permanent staff cannot take a salary, the donkeys and goats still need to be fed and contractors for repairs still need to be paid (the roof of the outdoor kitchen collapsed during the last rain). APS has provided a lot of support to the hiking community despite the lack of USFS presence. We clear trails, clean up graffiti, pick up trash, and provide emergency services. We are looking to the hiking community to help us out during this terrible time. It is out of our control. As long as the government is shutdown, then businesses like ours are also out of business. We run on a shoestring and continue to have expenses. We have cut back on a number of services like the free wi-fi, but it is not enough. We are looking for help with feeding the donkeys and goats for the next 2 months, pay to keep the utilities on, and pay contractors to keep the place in shape so that we can one day reopen. Please help. We do not need much, but we need help.
