Advantage Osteopractic Physical Therapy is one of the very few true 'small' physical therapy businesses in the Lexington, KY area. We have been in business for almost 8 years now, and have provided Lexingtonians with the best in rehabilitative care since inception. We are a small family- owned clinic, and not hospital or physician-owned. We fight hard for every person we see and do not have the benefit of a constant flow of patients like the hospital-based and larger corporate-based clinics enjoy, so we must provide the best care around. Due to this, we are able to spend time with our patients, listening, guiding, and providing the kind of care that SHOULD be delivered every time, but unfortunately is lost in the larger patient-mill companies.
Due to the CV-19 pandemic, and governmental closure of PT clinics in March, and subsequent limitation of how many patients can be seen daily, AOPT has suffered a monumental loss of income during these trying times. Income which keeps the lights on, bills paid, and employee salaries un-interrupted. Income which helps feed the owners' 7 year-old twin and 5 year-old triplet children.Though the government provided a 'bail-out', it was minimal and was utilized quickly for paying our employees while we continued treating patients as front line therapists, while all other medical, surgical, and pain management practices have been closed and not offering pain relieving services to the people of central Kentucky.
The ability for AOPT to stay in business for the long haul is in jeopardy. Income is minimal during these trying times. We would love to be able to continue caring for Lexington they way they have come to expect of us, but the financial cost of the CV-19 pandemic this past 4 months is straining the business to a tipping point, and we do not know when th government will lift restrictions on businesses.
All proceeds will be applied to paying of current debts, utility bills, employee salaries, and getting AOPT above water in order to survive this economic downturn, which was unforeseeable and may otherwise be irrecoverable.
AOPT makes a minimal profit as a small business in the physical therapy profession. We live paycheck to paycheck like most do. Small business therapy clinics are the "low man on the totem pole" so to speak, meaning hospital-based, corporate-based, and physician-owned PT practices have significantly higher reimbursement rates due to their ability to negotiate rates with insurance carriers. This means they can survive a shut down like this, where small businesses face bankruptcy.
Our goal is to be able to continue to care for Lexington the way we always have. Sure, we could close and go to work for another company, but we would lose the autonomy of caring for our AOPT friends and family the way we WANT to, the way we know is RIGHT! So please, if you would, help a struggling family out with keeping their business open.
