Urgent - Black Autistic family facing eviction
Donation protected
UPDATE (11/1) Hi everyone,
Happy New Year, and thanks again for your donations!
Unfortunately a family member has been long term sick for some time and has just been hospitalised with a possible chronic illness. At the moment the family is still seeking a permanent place to live.
All these issues are hard to deal with, so please feel free to help us out by sharing or donating.
-Jay, on behalf of the family
UPDATE: (20/12) Hi everyone,
The situation has got worse and the family, which includes a child, are going to emergency accommodation. Please donate if you can. See the update below for more on this situation.
UPDATE (18/12): Hi everyone, we have been forced to start taking donations again.
Thanks to your kind donations earlier this year, the family paid off their debt before being evicted. Thank you!
However, they have been forced to split up and are still struggling to raise money for a new place to live. Right now (18/12/23) they are living separately during the holidays and facing financial pressure. Your donations will help to support the family during this difficult time, as they try to survive and save towards a deposit.
Please donate to support a family in their time of need. Thank you!
Jay, on behalf of the family
**********************
We are a black, entirely neurodivergent family of four, facing eviction by the end of March. With the housing market as it is, it is unlikely that we will be able to afford to get a new place to live in time. It seems unfair to write this because we are not the only family on the sharp end of the housing crisis, but we didn’t know what else to do.
Repeated bouts of Covid gave two of us long Covid, putting a dent in the earnings of the family businesses. Then, a major bereavement, and the miscalculation of a payment due to us, destroyed us financially and caused us to fall into arrears. We explained what was going on to our landlord, but he decided to serve notice. We do not feel any animosity towards him because of this, we just don’t want to owe him any money and we need housing.
Most importantly, the youngest member of the family is a disabled, minimally-speaking child with autism who uses an alternative means of communication. He has already been through a challenging time securing accommodations for his education, now this has happened. His services, schooling, and sanity rely on him staying in the same place or the transition to another home being smooth.
We all want to survive this, and continue working for our loyal customers. Your contributions to our emergency fund will help us pay off our landlord and achieve our short-term goal - to secure our home while we search for new housing. Hitting our target figure of £8,500 would go a long way to help us sort ourselves out. Please give what you can to save a family from eviction, and loss of livelihood. Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you for reading this.
