Save Ballplayer Field in Moraga!
Donation protected
Ballplayer Field was created during Covid to operate an outdoor fitness and sports facility for the youth of the Lamorinda and surrounding communities. It was initially allowed for 6 months, and then after a renewal application, was allowed to continue further until this April. Now that the temporary timeframe has passed, the planning department staff wants to shut down the field!
Their primary reason is because the location is not zoned appropriately for the current use, and they envision a retail/residential development near the site, along with a 'Town Square'. Ballplayers fully supports this development, but has requested to continue operating Ballplayer Field until development comes to fruition.
Since opening on 9/1/2020, Ballplayer Field has hosted thousands of local children with activities such as fitness classes, baseball practices, multi-sport camps, lacrosse clinics, birthday parties and even a Wiffleball league. The field has been an incredible resource for residents in the community, particularly children, as it's provided a safe outdoor location for fitness, sports and recreation.
Ballplayers has already incurred well over $10,000 in fees solely related to the Town of Moraga application & approval processes. With a planning commission hearing scheduled for 4/19/22, those fees will continue to increase. All donations will go toward covering the costs associated with our request to keep the field open!
On behalf of the entire Ballplayer staff, thank you for your continued support!!
