Save Binkus' Heart
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Samson, writing on behalf of my dear dog Binkus. I have often told friends that Binkus was born with more love than her heart can handle, because she has a habit of fainting when she gets extra excited to see you. However a few weeks ago, a severe heart murmur was detected by our general vet, and an echocardiogram revealed that Binkus has a condition known as pulmonic stenosis (PS). PS is a condition in which the valve that separates the right side of the heart from the blood vessel does not open normally. As her body works to compensate, she shows signs of further complications (development of abnormal heart rhythms, enlarged heart) that eventually lead to congestive heart failure.
Based on the severity of her condition, if left untreated, she has been given a life expectancy of 3-5 years. She is now 3 1/2 . The option that gives her an opportunity to live a happy 10-12 years is a $7,500 procedure with a high success rate called Balloon Valvuloplasty. Because of its cost, it is out of reach of most dog owners, including me. I am putting what savings I can towards it, but it is not enough, so I am reaching out for any help. Binkus has been a mascot for myself, family, friends and beyond – if you are a fan of Glaive, you might know Binkus from the cover and music video of "All Dogs." This sweet friend of mine has been the dog of my dreams. I am committed to finding a way to get her proper treatment. I am already so grateful for the support and encouragement I have received, and I thank every one of you for sharing and for donations of any kind.
Here is an itemized breakdown of Binkus’ medical bills.
Initial consultation - $75
Cardiology Consultation - $200
Echocardiogram - $623.70
Balloon Valvuloplasty Procedure $7,500 **
Atenelol Heart medication $300/1 year
Total Goal: 8,698.7
**This is an estimated cost given to me by the cardiology department based on Binkus’ size/weight of 50lbs.
With the money raised, I am committed to getting Binkus the medical attention she needs to live a happy and healthy life. Any excess funds will be donated to the Stand Up for Pits Organization.
