Hello dear community and supporters of Black Power Naps
Since it’s three month installation at theMoMA last winter , Navild Acosta and Fannie Sosa’s renowned project Black Power Naps, an art installation that welcomes soft sculpture designed to offer a restful space for Black visitors and accomplices, has been in storage, awaiting its next exhibition.
Both Sosa and Navild have been fronting the cost for monthly storage while negotiating a show opening this month, but the show was cancelled last minute this week, creating a snowball effect of debt, last minute arrangements, and untold levels of stress.
Without support from a broader community to store the work until it finds a long term licensing / loan or a permanent home, Black Power Naps will have to be dismantled and destroyed.
If you haven’t yet heard about Black Power Naps, check out the amazing articles written by Teen Vogue , Ebony , Vice , Forbes , Paper Magazine, New York Times Magazine and more!
Please support us in ensuring that Black Power Naps has a long life, and that it can reach far and wide with its message of Rest as Reparation.
