Save Bodhi Tree Spa

This campaign is to raise the legal fees Lisa will need to fight for her business. 

For our friend Lisa,  who in her pure selfless form was firmly reluctant with the idea of crowdfunding. She didn't feel deserving of this help “when there are sick children and families in more dire need of this generosity". This speaks measures to the character of our friend, and we are asking for your help in returning some love to this extremely kind and giving soul. 

 

Albeit; the situation may be different from those she feels more deserving, however this is her only hope to fight for the business she lost so suddenly and unjustly. She stands to lose everything. She has put her heart and soul, and so many hours into this business. She has been the key member of  Bodhi Tree Spa since its inception 10+ years ago. As the manager, she helped build up the business and it’s reputation. In the late fall of 2019, she took over as owner and a few months later pandemic hit. Since then, we all know how things went. Sadly for Lisa; all odds were against her, having only taken over the business just a few months previous.

 

The spa experienced a total of 8/24 months of closures since she took over as owner. Prior to the mandated closures, clients were cancelling in record numbers with all the uncertainty in the world. This of course affected the bottom line.

 

This December the spa was seeing its highest number of bookings since the pandemic. Unfortunately, thats when everything took a turn for the worst. At a time of year when people and business owners are full of hope and excitement, Lisa had her business taken away suddenly and without notice.

 

We now know that this was an improper seizure of assets and an eviction without proper notice. The cause and reason served was for rent falling in arrears due to the subsequent impacts of COVID-19. A common challenge faced by so many small business owners throughout this pandemic.  

 

Lisa is incredibly hardworking and never gives up. We are asking for your help in this time of need so that she can fight for her Spa and to afford the legal costs to get her business back as well as fight for her staff that were so suddenly affected by this sudden closure. She will be pursuing legal action immediately.
