Please join me in saving Carlos Shoe Repair! We can’t sit by and let another Upper West Side small business go under! I recently saw this video by Maria Danzilo’s campaign for City Council and decided to start this GoFundMe page for owner Carlos Chuva. If you feel as passionately as I do about rebuilding our neighborhood, please watch the video and donate whatever you can. Carlos Shoe Repair has been a staple on 79th and Broadway for decades. Carlos takes care of Upper West Siders with his wonderful craftsmanship and incredible service. That’s why people in the neighborhood keep going back to him. Sadly now he is on the brink of homelessness. His business is suffering not just because of Covid. He has a $40,000 tax bill from the city. We can’t lose Carlos! His business is a vital part of our neighborhood and Carlos and his family need his business to survive. With the city burying him with high taxes, it’s up to us, his neighbors, to step in. Let’s help Carlos pay his $40,000 tax bill and let’s make sure we don’t lose yet another vibrant part of our community. Any amount helps! Thank you to the wonderful Upper West Side community for caring so much!
